We run these free online 'Rehab Conversations' several times throughout the year - to gather, to connect, to share ideas, and to support each other in our learning and practice.
PLEASE SHARE THE INVITATION WIDELY WITH YOUR REHABILITATION COLLEAGUES.
The presentation will last for 30 minutes; then we will have 20 minutes for a facilitated, interactive discussion.
Senior Lecturer & Pain Management Physiotherapist, University of Otago & Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, NZ
Dr Hemakumar Devan (he/him) is a clinical academic in pain management from New Zealand, working as a Senior Lecturer at the Rehabilitation Teaching and Research Unit (RTRU), University of Otago and as a Pain Management Physiotherapist at the Wellington Regional Pain Service, Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley. With equity and valuing lived experience expertise at the centre, Dr Devan’s research programme aims to foster self-management support to empower people with persistent pain and their whānau (family and significant others). He currently co-leads a HRC Health Delivery Project Grant to co-develop and implement a story-based, whānau-focused, opioid tapering intervention for people with chronic non-cancer pain. Strategically, his goal is to address health inequities and improve health outcomes for people with persistent pain and their whānau.
Upon registration, you will receive an email with the Zoom link for the event.
Please share the invitation with anyone you think might be interested in joining us for this session. We ask that they register separately so that we can contact them directly if there are any event changes and/or further information to share. Thanks!
NB: We can only make these events free if people become members of the NZRA (so we can pay for the website and event management platform). If you are not already, please consider becoming a paid-up member. It costs NZ$25 per year- a bargain! Join here: https://www.rehabilitation.org.nz/join-us
